The Neatly Clipped Hedge and the Iron Fence.

Ordered simple clean lines.
Contrast between the living and the made.
Really both are 'made'
The hedge is forced into a regimental wall by pruning with the shears.
The fence is saying 'I will spear you up the backside if you even try'
Control, containment, order.

Not like my garden.
It tends to be as boundary-less as my relationships.
Sometimes I look at other peoples gardens and think
'I should whip mine into shape like that'

But could I?
You know I can't.
Cutting back is like chopping the plants fingers off.
If the branch grew out in the wrong direction I would honor its civil disobedience.
Secretly pleased it had the bravery to risk its little wandering tendril.
COME ON THE REVOLUTION!

Come to where my plants grow free
Where the fence doesn't  really mean business.
Grow wild, uncut and untamed.
Infiltrating into the next door neighbors yard.
Climbing onto the roof.
Stretching out and grabbing the passers by.
Threaten to stop them in their tracks
and occasionally engaging with them
Breaking every rule in the city councils book.
Closing my eyes I secretly cheer them on.
DON'T CONFORM.
Let your true nature triumph.
My little rebel army.

  1. “The fence is saying 'I will spear you up the backside if you even try'”— Fences are made as barricade for the safety of your house against dangerous elements outside, especially if you're in frontier where wild animals are usually found. Plus, it can also add some character to your house.

  2. Some ironwork such as the window box above can be created in one piece using a sheet of steel and a plasma torch that is directed by a computer based template.black chain link fence
